Help Build India’s First Cancer Genome Map with ICGA

Most cancer treatments used in India today are based on Western research — not Indian patients. But cancer behaves differently in our population. From diagnosis to treatment, Indian patients face unique patterns, risks, and responses that global studies simply do not capture.

That’s where the Indian Cancer Genome Atlas (ICGA) comes in.

The ICGA Foundation is a Section 8 not-for-profit organisation working to create India’s first genetic map of cancer, built entirely on data from Indian patients. By studying the real-life medical and genetic information of people across the country, ICGA is helping doctors and researchers understand:

  • Why cancer strikes younger patients in India
  • How treatment can be made more precise for our population
  • What early warning signs to look for in Indian population

We have started with breast cancer and are expanding to other types. With support from hospitals, scientists, and institutions, we are building a resource that will guide India-specific cancer treatment, trials, and innovation — saving time, money, and lives.
